Spicing Up Movie Night

The cliche of all dates - Movie night. Throw dinner into the mix, and your date night is about as exciting as the plot line for Dinner For Schmucks. So how exactly can one make date night at the movies, an exciting and eventual evening. The answer lies within one word - Packaging.

Yes, it's all about the packaging. The next time you want to take your better half out to the movies, add some spice to the event by following the steps below:

  1. Pick a movie, which isn't near it's release date. A few weeks should pass, so that the theatre isn't packed to the max
  2. Take the following with you in a zipped up non-see through bag:
    1. Two wine glasses
    2. Bottle of Elderflower
    3. Bowl of fruits
    4. One red rose
    5. Blanket
  3. Make it to the movies about 15 minutes before start time, and when you walk in, find a corner where the two of you can comfortably nest
  4. Ask her (or him) to close their eyes, and give you 5 minutes
  5. Take out the wine glasses, top it up with Elderflower, place the fruits into the bowl, grab the rose and hold it up to her
  6. Ask her to open her eyes, give her the rose, and tell her whatever your heart desires
  7. "Cheers" the wine glass, and make a toast to an eventful movie evening
  8. Sit back, sip on the elderflower, and hold her (or him) close to you under the blankets
  9. Enjoy the Elderflower, the fruit, and of course the movie
She (or he) will never forget this date, and think it was the sweetest idea you've ever come up with. The simplicity of this date is what makes it so compelling. And as the old cliche line goes - "It's the thought that counts", and believe me, she'll notice the thought you've put into this.

I JUST Met Her... What Do I Do For Valentines!

This "problem" really affects you regardless of season. You JUST met the person of your dreams, and Christmas is around the corner, or New Years is around the corner, or their Birthday is next weekend... Or *gasp*... Valentines is coming up!

Understandably you may not want to come off with an over the top plan, and instead, try and play it cool. But watch out that you don't play it too cool. If you just met her, you're probably hit with the issue that no restaurant has any available seats. You're also left with the fact that without a neat place to take her to, you're really not sure what to do.

So here is a romantic idea which you can get together last minute, without going through a line of reservation rejection calls. And best of all, it's free! *More or less*

The name of The Date Idea is: Valentines On Wheels
In a nutshell, the two of you will spend Valentines evening in the backseat of your car, with a romantic view as your backdrop, watching a DVD movie on a portable DVD player, cuddled under a warm blanket. Steps to get this date in action are:

  1. Call her up, and tell her to make herself available on the evening of February 14th (This one should be obvious guys)
  2. Take your car to the car wash, get it cleaned both inside and out. Especially the back seat (And no, it's not what you're thinking guys)
  3. Find out from her, what movie (older and not in theaters) she's been dying to see. Or think up of a movie that lines up with her passion and interest.
  4. Head to Rogers and rent it. Don't do this on the day-of; They may be rented out
  5. Head to the nearest future shop or Best Buy, and pick up a portable DVD player
  6. Try and think of the perfect spot in the city, where you can comfortably park for 2 or so hours with no disturbance. Ideally a spot, with a view as your backdrop
  7. On that magical day, February 14th, call her up, and tell her to dress extremely comfortably, and to not ask any questions
  8. After picking her up, drive up to the "magical spot", ask her to get into the back seat, and close her eyes
  9. As she's waiting in the back, pop out the DVD player, connect it to the car, and pop-in the movie. Prop the player on the front dashboard
  10. Get into the back seat, and ask her to open her eyes. She'll be delighted with the setup.
  11. Sit back with her, get under a warm blanket, and enjoy the show
    1. Optional step: Come prepared with some wine or sparkling water and serve in wine glasses
  12. On February 15th, return the portable DVD player, unless you want to keep it... You didn't hear this from me ;)
For those of you giving this idea a shot, make sure to take pictures of the setup and view, and send my way so we can share with all. And if you added your own twist, sound off below on what you did to make this inexpensive yet sweet idea, even sweeter than it is!

Welcome To Date Ideas

Ola, Ciao, Bonjour, and Hello!

Love is universal, let's remember that. So no matter what language you had to say "Hello" or "Hi" that first time you met your lovely better half, the date ideas in this blog apply anywhere in this world.

Welcome to the blog roll of date ideas. When was the last time you and your partner were on the phone, and threw around "Welllll.. so what do you want to do tonight" and then got into a tiresome back and forth, to finally come up with just "A movie!". While a movie is not a bad idea, you can do certain things to make the date night experience fun, unique, and different.

This blog aims to give all romantics out there, interesting and unique ideas, to throw into the mix, when you're trying to figure out that memory of a life time date. Some ideas will be huge, and some will be little, but I assure you they will all be different. Now I definitely am not going to proclaim that I alone have all the best date ideas out there, so if anyone has any ideas they'd like to share, go ahead and send me some pictures (setup, etc) of the date, and the overall idea, and I'll get it up for the community to see.

And here we have it - DateIdea's first post!
